NASHVILLE (AP), July 28 – As we all recover from the pandemic, for the 15th consecutive year, a group of the best and brightest students at Tennessee State University (TSU) were awarded Bryan A. Collins Memorial Scholarships.
This scholarship award is given every year to outstanding minority students who demonstrate excellence in leadership and academics in pursuing their college degrees.
A special shout out goes to London Roberson and Jaiden Osborne who become three-time winners of this scholarship.
London and Jaiden led an outstanding group of eight other scholarship recipients, who have excelled both in and outside of the classroom.

“We’re excited! It is truly an honor to support these students,” said Francine Pace and Alan Collins, parents of the late Bryan A. Collins and founders of the scholarship program.
“Due to the pandemic, we regret we were unable hold our annual scholarship recognition luncheon. Nevertheless, we are thrilled to continue our commitment to the terrific students at TSU in our son, Bryan’s name.
“We are hopeful that these ten scholarship winners will continue to progress academically and work towards realizing their career dreams.”

Ben Northington, Director of the Tennessee State University Foundation and Fiscal Affairs added: “For fifteen consecutive years, this scholarship program has been an important part of the TSU Foundation’s goal of providing top-quality affordable education to our students.
“And, I’m honored that this program continues as a tribute to Bryan’s legacy and his impact on our university.”
This program has now awarded 180 scholarships since its launch in 2007.
Each of the 2021-22 Bryan A. Collins scholars, will receive a $2,500 scholarship grant towards their tuition for the upcoming school year.

In wrapping up, Francine Pace and Alan Collins, offered the following final comments on the program: “We’d like to extend our warm and heartfelt thanks to our families and all of our awesome super-contributors — especially Pamela Hewitt and Warren Lawson — for their unwavering support and generous donations to the scholarship for fifteen consecutive years.”
